BECOMING A FOLLOWER OF JESUS
“Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight.” (Psalm 51:4)
Other people quickly relate to the statement that we are all sinners and are very aware of corruption and sin in their lives.
As children we grow up looking around us and comparing ourselves to others. This is a very natural thing to do. In the classroom we learn that we re graded on a curve. If we are among the best in the class, then we get an “A.” If God graded on a curve then some of us would be deemed worthy and good because we rank among the “best” people, but we aren’t compared to each other. Our position as sinners is relative to the holiness of God. The comparison is made with respect to His perfect sinless nature. We are His creation and He has revealed our sinfulness by the revelation of His Word. When we argue about whether or not we are sinners, we are in effect fighting with God. This in itself is a sinful act.
I realize that you may want to quit right here. I want to appeal to you to do two things: (1) Ask God if you have a sin problem. Ultimately this truth comes from Him and… (2) Keep reading and hear the whole message…it’s incredible.
