BECOMING A FOLLOWER OF JESUS
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)
There is a God. To some this statement may seem unnecessary and obvious. To others this simple statement is preposterous, or at least presumptuous. Some people don’t believe in God. Others believe there are many gods…but no God. But undoubtedly, the starting point for any examination of the Christian faith needs to deal with the existence of God.
This concept is so central that the first words in the Bible say, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” God, pre-existent and eternal, outside of time, created everything there is, both in the material world and in the heavenly realm. the last thing he created was the human race. He did this through the first humans, Adam and Eve. The Bible tells us as human beings we are created in the image of God.” (Genesis 1:27)
