First Steps
Have you ever taken a child to Disneyland? It is awesome to see a young and innocent little boy or girl experience the “magic kingdom” for the first time, to share their amazement as they see a place that is so incredible to their senses. They are so full of awe and wonder. I av had the great pleasure of working with brand new Christians for several years. It is very energizing to be across the table as they begin to appreciate the magnitude of God’s love and the great joy that comes as they find new life, renewal, forgiveness and transforming power through faith in Jesus. The material presented in this course are things that I have found to be helpful for new Christians. The simple truths of God’s plan to bring people into loving relationships with Himself are profound and powerful all by themselves.
I have also found these materials to be helpful to those who are considering the claims of Christ but aren’t sure the a ready to “buy in.” Maybe you have a friend who is on the fence. Or maybe you find yourself being drawn to Jesus but you don’t know if you can really find a way to believe in Him. Take the time to work through this course. It may help you decide to take the journey into the land of faith and change your life forever.

Mike and Pam Barnes have been married for 45 years and have three adult sons, Chris, Danny, and Jonny, and four grandchildren, Rory, Millie, Moses, and Timothy. They have been serving at Community Church since January of 2014. Mike served as an Associate Pastor at the Grove Community Church in Riverside, CA for 15 years. Mike has a BA in Christian Studies from California Baptist University, as well as a BS in Industrial Engineering Technology, from Southern Illinois University. Mike is an ordained minister in The Christian and Missionary Alliance and has authored two books: “First Steps, as a follower of Christ”, and “Which Way is the Ocean, Sharing Jesus with a skeptical culture”. Mike enjoys kayaking, fishing, guitars, hiking, and exploring new places with his wife Pam.
